Seventeen years into democracy comes freedom and that entitles the citizens of this country to air their concerns should they feel hardened by the ussual suspects (politicians) who make promises during election time only later to reneged BUT make no mistake...not in Mzansi!
Over the years there had been protests about lack of service delivery but what happened in Meqheleng, Free State shocked South Africa leaving the township in turmoil and a bitter pill to swallow. The act left majority engulfed with anger, question marks and doubts about police credibility.
The name Andries Tatane will go down our history as one of the warrior who posed no fear and never backed down in standing for what is rightfully his which most citizens are deprived of for close to 2 decades. Andries was brutally shot at on the chest with rubber bullet and beaten with batons by the police, as a result he died.
ANC has came under fire for being mum about the incident since the protest was caused by the officials they deployed to serve but failed.
I must commend the SABC Crew for bringing such barbaric act to people attention. It is therefore shocking to learn that the MMA (Media Monitoring Authority) are considering to charge the national broadcaster for playing the footage (I mean really...that's what viewers want to see as the last they saw such dispeakable deed was during Apartheid Era)
The matter has since been handed to ICD (Independent Complains Directorate) for investigation and 6 cops are arrested, hope they get locked up and throw away the keys for they don't deserve to be among human being.
# Meanwhile ANCYL President Julius Malema who is currently in court for the hate speech case brought by AFRI-forum for singing 'Dubula Ibhunu' urged his supporters to stop feeding the media (which he cited as 'ANC main opposition'). This comes after a witness in the very same case felt threatend by their presence. With the ruling party hell-bent in seeing the MAT (Media Appeals Tribunal) in action, the future of print media hang in balance and freedom of speech in tatters. Bear in mind how lately numerous editor's have had to issue retractions and a particular weekend newspaper worsening the situation by publishing articles that are baseless with unfounded facts. No wonder the ANC rendered the Ombudsman toothless!!!

Hyena in a sheep skin
As the elections for the local municipalities a few weeks away, we (the poor citizens) are bombarded by politician's visits whereby they come and promise to buy trains while we don't even have railway to begin with. Let's brace ourselves as this is the only time we will get to shake their hands, hug and they'll be pretending to be sympathising only to dash to wonderland up-on casting our vote's for them.
During the past months Mzansi saw ample protests regarding service delivery than any other era and as such it's not surprising that majority of the people are so sceptical of voting as it has been proven that despite 'a better life for all' nothing really changes or improves in terms of their living conditions.
Recent reports about the State Security Minister's daughter appointment as Chief Financial Officer for the Independent Complaints Directorate raised eye-brows and caused an uproar. At age 25, with 2-years of experience and yet holding such a high position in a country where over qualified graduates are unemployed. I must say she is living a golden life. If she was appointed on merit (though another experienced applicant from the Treasury was over-looked) can I (based on my age) raise my hand as I believe i can be the Head of Commercial Radio for the national broadcaster... Obviously i won't be considered as i don't have family, relatives, or contacts in high places. Perhaps my qualification(s) is/are inferior to her's as she might have studied
abroad.
These power-hungry monger's are so obsessed with self-enrichment and forgetting about the poor. Does being in the struggle entitle one to the country's economy? Make no mistake...as they will lend an ear when canvassing but dare them to lead then you will hear arrogant responses like 'that's rubbish' when asked about questionable appointments. To further rub the salt in the wound they brag about:
a) Ruling until Jesus comes;
b) Voting for them being a passway to heaven;
c) Dubbing themselves to Jesus and his 12 disciples.
Isn't it a sin to mock the word of God?
And yes! Not forgetting how they degrade human-being by building open-end loo and chowing parliament moolah, fighting for positions and causing factions while the poor get NO SERVICE WHATSOEVER!

''It's where you're at...'' with Juju drive
Sealing off the month of the geniuses (i.e. March) into what is known as 'new era for radio - April' saw some interesting, yawning and dull changes in terms of reshuffling of DJs, programs line-up's and so forth.
It must be noted that the initiative by commercial broadcaster Metro FM to have celebrities hosting the afternoon drive time slot - 'The Avenue' was creative, top notch and mind-blowing.
Therefore goes without saying that the listenership went sky rocketing.
Like most of those who tuned in, i for one anticipated one of the shows which was to be hosted by the controversial ANCYL President Julius 'Juju' Malema, prior i thought this was just a publicity stunt by the station to woo listeners but after an intro track 'It's about
time' by Boom Shaka there came his voice and yes the promise was kept; and from that moment on never was radio going to be the same, well atleast while he was behind the mic.
Juju made it crystal clear that 'no politics' and just relaxation was the order of the day perhaps because of reports in the media earlier on which alledged he was back to his own self again critising the ruling party and the president though it later emerged that the report was incorrent resulting in the dismissal of the journo.
To round everything off Malema had a fun-filled, productive day in the studio bringing us another side of his which is unknown to many and such initiative was well received by majority.
