Sometimes I sit and ask myself what criteria is being used to recruit Soccer Commentators and its Analysts, the only thing I have been able to figure out is that all of them (if not most) happen to have one thing in common; and that is supporting the Naturena-based outfit which they dub 'big team'.
Chincha Guluva's team is not a BIG team but rather an OLD one. Yes, it's brand is huge mainly because it's been in existence way before some of us could see the sun; which goes for their arch-rivals down in Mayfair. It also has to be noted as well that it is a default team.
How does one gauge BIG?
* Is it by the number of its followers? If so then, the green and white team in Free State deserves the spotlight too; or
* Numerous trophies they accumulated in the past while they found aid in the 13th man (i.e. Whistle-blower)
I bet to differ... A big team is one that can be consistent over and over, anyway we were talking about biased commentators. Gone are the days when you be watching the game and you'd enjoy the commentatory because the guys bringing it to you didn't take sides. I'm referring to the likes of Zama 'zimb' indaba' Masondo, Ronnie Masilela, Oom 'dan' Setshedi, Dumile 'unkabi' Mateza, Thabiso 'ntho entle mmuhi' Parkies to name a few. But nowadays it's a pain in the butt to be listening to those whom the only team that deserve the spotlight is their beloved gold and black of which to me is a PR Marketing strategy which the said team gain unfairly.
Luckily for us football lovers whether they hide their favouritism or not that won't win matches for their team in the field of play and by virtue they can support their team till kingdom come and see if it will make any difference.
