So it has been proven over and again that the national broadcaster is failing to live up to expectation with their programming as a result viewers (mostly football lovers) no longer see the point in paying their television licenses which they (SABC) always emphasize that ''it's the right thing to do'' based on what?
The SABC is supposed to be of public pride by default but its delivery when it comes to services it renders leave a lot to be desired. Over the years we have seen changes on its pay-off lines from 'Ya mampela' (which once had the royal king airing his dissatisfaction that it was not proper isiZulu word).
With time comes change, one would expect nothing but creativity, in true honesty is there anything worth watching on their channels especially SABC 1? To make matters worse their level of news bulletin compared to the free to air channel across town is a shame and surprisingly they have the best news anchors but i'm afraid the same cannot be said about their lens (wo)men.
Not long ago they were bankrupt and the government came to their aid, one wonders where all the cash went to because they are failing to even uplift local lads which often sees production houses lacking behind when it comes to paying its crew.
Here's a little advice to those at the helm within the broadcaster and hold power to make decisions... International programmes are of no importance to our people whoever want that there's a satellite dish to cater for that. Yours is just to recruit ample of film students across our country to pitch programme ideas and commission them as i believe their ideas will be refreshing, creative, uplifting and not this crap most production companies feed us as they are copying overseas concepts.
Never again will you cry bankruptcy as these ideas will go way below the millions you pay for programmes that will be repeating over and over till the poor viewers are synonymous with their lines.
